This video made me sad. It makes me realize that even though I'm on social media I am not really connected with my friends. The video made me think of how sad it will be that my kids may not experience growing up without technology. I hope to take some time away from my phone now and just have conversations face to face. I don't want to get lost in technology. This summer I plan on not using my phone while around my friends and family. Hopefully it will be a summer full of my favorite memories.

What is a 'splash page'? Look it up. Explain. what they are and how they are used. Find an example of a splash page in Google Images. Save the image to you computer and then upload it to your blog post.

A splash page is a page of a site that acts as the front page before showing the home page. These can be used as an additional page of advertisements or direct someone to the appropriate page for their country. These can also be used to grab someone's attention. These work by adding different code to the site. I'm still not exactly sure how they work.

What do you think about it? What is the teacher trying to say? In your own words explain what "the main event" is. Do you agree or disagree with the writer?

The writer is trying to tell us that making the grade is not what school is all about. Teachers want to see us succeed in class and out of class. Teachers want us to make the right choices and never quit. The writer believes we are too ready to quit. He believes by not giving up we can become better students and overall better people. I agree with the fact that we are easily giving up. I think the writer understands our point of view. If we gave up less easily we would be more likely to succeed in school and even beyond school.

Status update! Tell me where you are at on your product website? Can you be finished by tomorrow at the end of the hour? Do you need more time? How much more time? Be honest and explain yourself.

My website is looking really good right now. I had to make some adjustments, but altogether I really like my site. I currently have eight pages finished and need o complete seven. The next few should be easy so by the end of the hour I should have ten or eleven done. I would really like until at least block day to work. To get it done by tomorrow seems almost impossible.

Welcome back! How was your Spring Break? Tell me all about it. You've been out of school for 10 days so I know you will have plenty to share.

Over spring break my family went to Naples, Florida. We spent a lot of time with my mom's friend from high school on the beach and barbecuing at her house. It was a fun week and I was excited because I didn't get too burnt. When we got home from vacation I had soccer work outs and a lot of community service to do. It was nice to stay busy. I was not ready for break to end.

Do you like the layout of this project? Have you benefited from your brainstorming sheet? Was it more helpful or annoying when starting to map out your website? Explain why.

So far I like the layout of my project but not necessarily the design. I feel as if I had this vision in my head and no matter how hard I try it can happen. It was helpful to layout my design to get an idea of what I wanted, but the farther I get into my project the more I'm changing it. So it seems almost pointless to have made the layout when I am no longer sticking with it.

I was gone Friday so I missed out on making the header. I have ideas for my header but I do not have a complete thought for it yet. I don't really have check points until the very end of the project. If I set checkpoints I won't ever get more than that done on that day. If I feel as if I am behind I will come in early one day and try to catch up.

My idea is different from everyone else because it is a family bakery. My bakery will have specialty recipes and menu items. Not only is my product idea creative, but also my site colors of pink and tan are very unique. My site layout seems to be coming along great and will also be unique.

I chose to do a family business called Hagel's Bagels and Brownies. My family has joked about making this bakery shop forever and now I can make a website out of it. It will be fun to tell my parents about what I'm doing in class. This website will be creative and original.

What are three things you learned about color theory and web design yesterday? Go in to detail

Yesterday I learned a lot about colors and the scheme of websites. One thing I learned is colors represent emotions and can make people feel a certain way. This is important because websites should be attractive to draw people in. I also learned the reason we use black writing is because it has the least brightness whereas the background of white has the most brightness. Finally I learned about colorblindness. Colorblindness does not mean all colors can't be seen, for most people their are one or two colors that they get confused.

Color scheme can make a website visually pleasing. If a websites colors work really well together that site can flow and will be easy to look at. However, if the sites colors do not look pleasing, people may not want to use that site. Color can also make a website look professional or childish. Colors have been shown to make people feel emotions and if you want your website to portray something the right color should be chosen.

What did you learn about file types as you created and designed your travel website? What are some other kinds of file types you know of? What do these different files do? Explain.

While creating my travel website I learned the difference between a PNG and a PSD file. PSD files are used in photoshop and can be edited whereas PNG files can't be edited and are the final product and these are the files used in the actual website. I have heard of other files including JPG and HTML. I'm unsure of what JPG files are, but I know HTML files create websites and publish them on to the internet. This is all I really know about files.

What was your takeaway from this Travel Site? What did you learn that you didn't know before? How will the knowledge of how we built this site help you improve your future websites?

From building this travel website I learned how to incorporate Photoshop pictures into a web site using AP dividers. I now know how to create a website two different ways, using tables and AP dividers. This can help me build more creative sites and use more pictures. It's important to use this new knowledge to make a website fancier and add more pizzazz. The way of using tabs was becoming monotonous and a lot of my sites were beginning to look similar, so by adding the pictures it created a lot more options of what I could do with my future websites.

How can Photoshop be a valuable tool in web design? Explain.

Photoshop is a very valuable tool in web design. In webdesign we need to make fancy title pages and add pictures to our website. Dreamweaver doesn't have many choices when it comes to editing photos or adding word art. It is nice to have Photoshop so I can spice up my website and make it look pleasing. Without Photoshop our websites could all start to look similar.

I know very little about Photoshop. The last time I worked with Photoshop was in seventh grade. I remember how to cut the background out of things and simple things. I think if I went through a review I could pick it up really fast. I would consider myself a newbie. Hopefully I can learn more soon.

A user can function through a website easily if the site doesn't have broken links. The site can be easy to work with if the links change color when rolled over or are a different color. It can make it easier for the user if the links you add open in a different page instead of redirecting the page. I think side bars also add to the easiness and overall appearance of the website.

Tell me about your Sweetheart weekend. If you didn't go to Sweetheart, what did you do? I want details!

On Saturday morning I went to get my nails done with my friend Jordyn. After our short trip to the nail salon my mom picked me up to go shoe shopping at Macy's. It was four hours before the dance and I still didn't have shoes to wear. I ended up buying black heels with gold studs all around. Before we left Macy's my mom had to pick up makeup. It ended up that a girl at the Clinique counter wanted to do my makeup for me! It was a great surprise because I can't do my own makeup. A sort time later we were already at Kyoto's eating and then at the after party! It was a fun night with my date Ben and all of my friends even though I was sick.

For my All About Me website I chose to have my four topics be favorites, family, friends, and interests. These topics are important because my family and friends and the things I do with them make my life fun and interesting. I don't think of myself as a creative person so I have not yet decided on anything to do yet. I think I will incorporate pictures for each of my content pages which can make it interesting. Hopefully I will think of something more creative soon.

I enjoyed learning code! I think its beneficial to know how to code when creating a website so if something is not working properly you can look at the code and try to find the problem. I don't think I am very good at code yet, but I am definitely learning something. I would like to o deeper into code and learn more about how a website is built.

Tell me about your three day weekend. How was it? What did you do? Elaborate!

This weekend I did more than I did all last year! On Friday I had soccer practice from eight to nine, which was horrible. On Saturday, I practiced the Freshman class dance and had a great time improving because i know none of the steps. Afterwards my friends and I went to go see Frozen for the third time! I know all the songs by heart so it was pretty entertaining. On Sunday I went dress shopping for Sweetheart and picked out the cutest dress; it was on sale! That night I watched a movie with Logan Lerman because I think he is really cute... On Monday my sister and I went shopping all day! After our shopping excursion we had to go to soccer pre-tryouts. We ran for two hours straight and it was possibly the most miserable time I've ever had. My weekend was very eventful and I hope I can have another weekend like it soon.

Tell me if you agree with this statement and then why or why not. "Images on the internet are 'free game' - if someone posted it, I should be able to use it."

I disagree with this statement. Images on the internet were not always posted for other people to find and use. If someone posts a photo they have taken themselves on a blog or a social network not everyone should be allowed to use them without citing it. If the picture isn't cited it will look as if someone stole it and is using it as their own. It's almost like stealing from an art museum and then saying you painted the picture yourself. Stealing artwork is a form of plagiarizing.

What do you know about plagiarism on the Internet? What do web design, the Internet and plagiarism all effect each other? Explain.

Plagiarism is when someone takes information from a source and writes it as if it's their own work. In society, plagiarizing is not accepted and people can be harshly punished for it. In school, if one were to plagiarize, they could get suspended or get a low grade because of it. These days plagiarizing is so easy with all the websites and posts. To avoid plagiarizing people just have to site their sources. Plagiarizing can be used in web design if someone were to copy a websites design or the idea of someones website. Plagiarizing off the Internet and other websites in web design class can lead to us getting a bad grade in the class. It's important that we don't plagiarize.

I don't know very much about code. I have been on a website called Code Academy teaching how to start a website. I have seen people set up websites before. I can do some simple coding like fonts and colors. I have never used a program before and I don't know any tools that exist.
